This set of seven large-sized preserved specimens is a great way to learn about and compare the anatomy of several animals. The specimens are larger than those typically found in a set like this and provide a better dissection experience because it is easier to locate and identify the internal organs and external structures.
The seven preserved specimens in this set include a grass frog (3.5"-4"), earthworm (8"-10"), large Lubber grasshopper, crayfish (4"-6"), clam (4"-5"), perch (7"-9") and starfish (5"-6"). None of these specimens are injected. This set includes all seven specimens packaged together in one bag.
Note: Specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which will not decay over time. Plan to use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality. Specimen discoloration and dryness over time is normal and does not indicate decay.
Store your specimens at normal room temperature—refrigeration is not required. Storage in attics or garages at high temperatures will damage the specimens. Once opened, specimens can be resealed in a zip-lock bag to prevent them from drying out for later use.
Crayfish specimen will include at least one cheliped to dissect; although, in some cases, it may be detached from the body.
