  • We used this along with the 2nd edition of Apologia Human Body curriculum. It worked very well and helped my daughter get a better understanding of anatomy. The fetal pig was especially nice, due to the dyes injected in it. The eye was a little tricky at first to figure out what needed to be removed before the actual dissection started. It would have been helpful to have had dissection guides with the kit, but we were able to research online to help us figure out some of the structures.

Dissection Kit for Apologia Human Body

Get a better understanding of anatomy with this kit that contains the specimens needed for the dissection labs in Apologia's The Human Body: Fearfully and Wonderfully Made advanced biology course. Includes a 10-13" double injected fetal pig, a sheep heart, and a cow eye. Order dissection tools and a dissection pan separately if you don't already have them.

Note: The sheep heart specimen in this kit is slightly smaller than the beef heart Apologia recommends (available from the butcher's), but it has the same structure and will work fine with the instructions in your book. Specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which will not decay over time. Plan to use specimens within one year of purchase to ensure the best tissue quality. Specimen discoloration and dryness over time is normal and does not indicate decay.

Store your specimens at normal room temperature—refrigeration is not required. Storage in attics or garages at high temperatures will damage the specimens. Once opened, specimens can be resealed in a zip-lock bag to prevent them from drying out for later use.

Shipping Note: This item contains preserved specimens and only ships to a street address in the 50 US states.
