Mink are much more economical than other large mammal carnivore specimens like the cat. This preserved mink dissection specimen is skinned and typically 14"-17" in length for the males and 10"-14" in length for the smaller females. This is a farm raised specimen with well-developed muscle structure and the scent glands removed. It is a double injected specimen with red latex injected into the arteries and blue latex injected into the veins to more easily trace the vascular system. Mink species is typically Neovison vison.
Note: Specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which will not decay over time.
