Orion SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth Reflector Telescope

The Orion SpaceProbe 3 Reflector Telescope is a highly affordable, easy-to-use beginner telescope. It is good for all-around astronomical observing, lightweight, and highly portable. The whole family will enjoy it!

Built around a 3" (76 mm) diameter primary mirror, the Orion SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth Reflector Telescope also gathers enough light to view Saturn's rings, Jupiter's moons, the terrain of our own Moon's surface, as well as some more exotic star clusters and distant nebulas! The SpaceProbe 3's focal length of 700mm (f/9.2) is long enough to provide magnification of 28x and 70x with the included Kellner Explorer II 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, respectively.

The Newtonian reflector optical tube is made of aluminum and it features a 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser for use with standard size eyepieces to provide a sharp image and large field-of-view. A wide-field EZ Finder II reflex sight is also included to aid in locating objects and aiming the SpaceProbe 3 telescope. The adjustable-height Altazimuth tripod is easier to use than equatorial mounts and includes an accessory tray and aluminum legs. This mount allows for simple up/down and left/right motion. Easy-to-understand instructions are included to get you observing the sky quickly. Ships in one box with some assembly required. Telescope Magnification:
Don't make the mistake of buying a telescope for the high magnification advertised. Many low-priced telescopes boast magnification of over 500x, which is totally unusable for three reasons.

      • First, the theoretical magnification for any telescope is limited by aperture (primary lens or mirror) diameter. The maximum theoretical magnification is 120x for a 60mm telescope and 228x for a 114mm telescope.
      • Second, atmospheric conditions limit magnification to 200-250x on the very best of nights even with very large telescopes.
      • Third, the low quality optics on most inexpensive telescopes do not produce a clear, sharp image even at lower magnifications.

Most night sky observing is done in the range of 25x-150x. The Orion telescopes we offer have excellent optics at these magnification levels, ensuring you will enjoy your night sky viewing.
