DESCRIPTION
Perform a presumptive blood test using the Kastle–Meyer test to check for blood on materials. Using the provided premixed solutions, test samples to see if they react.
First, plant evidence in the "crime scene" using the included blood standard strips. Next, collect a sample with a cotton swab. Add drop of phenolphthalein to the sample followed buy a drop of hydrogen peroxide. If it immediately turns pink, the presumptive blood test is positive.
With its immediate results, this test is a favorite among crime scene investigations (CSI). While not hard proof, presumptive blood test results can help detectives uncover other evidence. This kit is great for teaching students about forensic science (crime scene science).
This Presumptive Blood Test Kit, from Innovating Science, contains:
- 50 ml Phenolpthalein
- 50 ml Ethyl alcohol
- 50 ml Hydrogen peroxide
- 5 Blood standard strips
- 50 Cotton swabs
You provide distilled water. Safety gear, specifically gloves, goggles, and apron, are recommended.
The test can't distinguish between animal and human blood. Further serology tests are needed. Kit contains instructions, blood standard, and reagents to complete 30 tests.
