You can't hear them but cells do communicate! They don't use sounds like humans, but instead use chemical signals that can communicate from one cell to another and regulate cellular function. In this kit the student will create a model of cellular communication and use the model to understand the role of communication in regulating blood sugar level and nerve action.

  1. Students will learn core concepts including:
  2. Cells send signal molecules like hormones and neurotransmitters
  3. These molecules bind to proteins called receptors
  4. Each signal and receptor is specific
  5. This binding causes changes inside the cell
  6. A lack of "communication" disrupts homeostasis

Complete this kit at home or in the classroom in two 40 minute sessions. Includes a completed, detailed Teacher Guide and Student materials
