Slingshots, Crossbows, and Catapults, Oh My!

Build and test tools to launch gummy bears! Slingshots, Crossbows, and Catapults, Oh My! will help any young engineer build and test tools to solve human problems.

In this kit, students will build and test a slingshot, crossbow, and catapult to determine which will launch a gummy bear furthest and which is more accurate. Students will use these hands-on science experiments to delve into the engineering and technology of different tools. Slingshots, Crossbows, and Catapults, Oh My! comes with a full-color Student Workbook and Teacher Guide. This kit contains activities and information that focuses on the phenomenon of a popsicle stick “explosion” and how launchers are used to propel objects.

As part of a special program from Home Science Tools, this Wonder level kit will provide over 6 hours of knowledge, educating your student about tools used to solve human problems

In this kit, the student will engage in these fun activities:

1. Watch popsicle sticks "explode".
2. Launch gummy bears. 
3. Build and test a gummy bear slingshot. 
4. Use a crossbow to determine which types of objcects launch further and more accurately. 
5. Learn about launching objects in an arch. 
6. Design and test a launcher of their own.

Use Slingshots, Crossbows, and Catapults, Oh My! to answer questions such as:

• What is motion in one and two directions?
• Which tool launches gummy bears further?
• Which tool launches gummy bears more accurately?
• How are tools used to solve human problems?

• 2 Balloons
• 1 Craft tube
• 3 Pairs of gloves
• 2 Gummy bears, pack
• 1 Masking tape
• 1 Paint
• 40 Popsicle sticks
• 1 Rubber bands, pack
• 1 Tape measure
