Craft your own chemical reaction with the Science Buddies Bath Bomb Science Kit!
That satisfying fizz when a bath bomb hits the water isn't magic--it's a real acid-base reaction. Baking soda and citric acid sit inert as solids, but the moment water dissolves them, they react and release carbon dioxide gas which fizzes to the surface. Creating your own bath bombs with this kit is the perfect way to gain a little understanding of chemistry, and to have a whole lot of fun in the process!
With this hands-on bath bomb kit, kits create DIY fizzy bath bombs while learning about the chemical reactions behind them. A bath bomb really is just a science experiment. Use the supplies in this kit to make your own homemade bath bombs. Kids (and adults, too) get to experience both the fun and relaxing side of science!
Key Questions Students Explore:
- How does the amount of cornstarch filler affect how fizzy a bath bomb is?
- Does a faster dissolving time mean a faster reaction rate?
- What household ingredients can you substitute to make your own bath bomb formula?
Please note that each batch needs to dry overnight before it's ready to test so this isn't a one-afternoon activity. Plan accordingly!
A few items you'll need from home include: graduated cylinder, lab notebook, masking tape, measuring spoons, medicine dropper, mixing bowls, pen or permanent marker, stopwatch, utensil for mixing, vegetable oil, water
