DESCRIPTION

Sugars are a key source of energy for your body, but did you know that there are many different kinds of “sugars?” The Sugar Metabolism Kit lets you explore the many types of sugars and how your body metabolizes them, or converts them into energy.  You’ll get to try your hand at biochemistry, by recreating some of the chemical reactions that your body uses to digest sugars, and shed light on the link between sugars and diabetes.

Our scientists did an exhaustive search to find the right combination of supplies so you can recreate biochemical processes with measurable results without the need for complex equipment. The supplies in this kit can be used to do a number of different experiments that explore questions such as how much sugar is in your food, what types of sugar are in the foods you eat, and how does your body process different types of sugars?

  • 1 Glucose powder (30 g)
  • 1 Urinalysis glucose test strip pack (100 count)
  • 4 Graduated transfer pipettes, 3 mL
  • 2 Invertase powder (1 g), makes 25 mL
