This "fire syringe" or diesel piston demonstrator device shows the relationship between gas pressure and temperature – and how they can be used to start a miniature fire! The piston apparatus consists of a thick, clear plastic tube and a plunger. When the plunger is pushed down, the air in the tube is compressed, elevating the temperature enough to ignite a cotton ball. Includes instructions on how to use the fire syringe demonstrator.
